Opened my first Pappy 20. Wow, that is an amazing flavor.
Bought and opened a bottle of the BOTM. ORVW 10/90.
Opened a FRSB from the Liquor Barn...I should have bought more of those as it's one of the best standard bottles I've had...almost as good as the Hightower/Curtis SB!
Opened an OWA ... off the shelf from Mont. County Md..... probably one of the worst OWA's I have had.... thin and bitter on the back end. This appeaed to be current stock.
My first Old Ezra 101. You know, its not bad. Makes for a pleasant Sunday afternoon.
A wonderful day:
Thanks to the generosity of a fellow member, I opened bottles of Abraham Bowman Bourbon (138.6) and CnB OWA (#60). Plus, samples of ND OGD and Bernheim Wheat.
The information superhighway also granted me two tax-stamped mini dusties that I promptly tasted: a Weller SR (Louisville) and Old Charter (Louisville). Fun! These, along with the OGD, are a real history lesson that I'm treasuring.
Opened another Vintage 17 too. My fourth thus far, this one is the best yet--and they've all been good. As I've mentioned on other threads, there's quite a bit of variance bottle-to-bottle, but the gems are stunning.
Agree, a very good value. More fruit than the regular OWA, excellent balance, long biting finish. With a few more years in the barrel, it could be spectacular. I read about CnB raising prices dramatically this week; if the mark-ups affected their OWA too, that'd be an added shame.
One more to add to the "just opened" list. While putting my empty care package into the recycling pile, I noticed it also contained a TPS Four Roses OBSK sample too! Very exciting. Thanks again to the thoughtful member who passed these along. Really made my night.
