Re: Concannon Irish Whiskey
I have not had it. Do you think the wine is too dominant? For example, I like many of the sherried Scotch malts and the best provide the notes..nutty, sweet without dominating the whisky.

Aged in both wine and ex bourbon barrels.
Re: Concannon Irish Whiskey
I bought a couple of bottles of this last month after the store owner gave me a taste to see what I thought of it. His opinion was that it was a pretty decent whiskey for the price (he's selling it for $14.99), and I have to agree. Concannon claims to use both small bourbon casks and their own wine barrels for a minimum of 4 yrs. I find it light, refreshing and very smooth. While the wine is definately there, it's not over-powering.
I don't drink very much Irish whiskey, but for something different, this is a nice value pour IMO.

Re: Concannon Irish Whiskey
I don't think the wine overpowers the whiskey at all. I have had that in some scotches. I like all styles of whiskey and find this a nice addition to the Irish offerings.
