Hi cuz. I recently learned that a neighbor of mine hails from Kentucky and, like any true native of that state, is a fan of Bourbon. Brian tasted the Makers Mark Black Seal at his cousin's house (what is it about cousins and Bourbon?) some years ago, but hasn't been able to find it for sale. He thinks it was sold in limited edition to the Japanese market at one time. Have you ever heard of it and do any of your sources have access?
Looks like it is an international only release. I found it available on a couple of German web sites.

There is a review of MM Black on Bourbon Enthusiast.

Re: Makers Mark Black Seal
you're in luck. There's a restaurant in Brooklyn called Char no. 4 they might have a bottle. give them a call. It's not gonna be cheap. http://charno4.com/ Being a restaurant, they probably don't sell it by the bottle. Maybe you could ask for it to go?
Re: Makers Mark Black Seal
Yes, they do have it. I saw it there in November, and it's still on the menu. Not surprising, since it's priced at $100 per ounce.
At least you're not too far from Brooklyn.

Other than using black wax...whats the difference from regular MM?

Ask for it to go?! At that price it should come with an escort.

Maker's Mark Black Label
75cl / 47.5%
Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
A very rare, now-discontinued edition of Maker's Mark. Maker's
Black Label was bottled at a higher-than-normal 47.5% and was
originally only available in the Far East. Discontinued some years
ago and now extremely difficult to get hold of.

Great question. I was wondering the same thing until silverfish sent me this link:

Thank you!
Re: Makers Mark Black Seal
The whiskey inside is also older than the standard MM. It's a very nice bourbon and much better than 46 (IMHO). I'm still holding on to a bottle. It was available in Duty Free outlets.
