Conventional wisdom is plain font on the back label = wheater, and scripted font on the back label = rye based. I have a few of the wheaters bunkered--great bourbon imo.

thanks for the info on that. I appreciate it. I thought he said $100, which seems high, but it is CA and it is a smaller store.
I'm curious to know what you think of it... I've been slowly working on a private selection bottle (from the "Loch & K(e)y society", which is run by Julio's Liquors, a store in Westborough MA) of Henry McKenna 10yo SB BiB, and it's been pretty good for $25 on sale (marked down for $30).
After passing on PVW 15 & 20 a couple of weeks back, I managed to grab a Saz 18 which makes me feel a bit better and gives me something to sip on.
I picked up a Four Roses Small Batch gift set (it comes with a small flask)

Headed out today for what I hope is my last biz trip of the year. Of course I reserve the right to recant that wish, and leave for wherever when the in-laws are in town for Christmas...:D. Decided to make a few stops and picked up:
Private Barrel ETL
Old release Lot no. 40
Smooth Ambler Old Scout Rye
A Bowman 17.5 yr 147.5 pr.
375 of Corsair Spiced Rum.
Drinking the ETL now, and it is deliciously full of brown sugar, toffee, and just a whisper of orange on the finish. :yum:
it was a pretty good day today, a half day of work, a last dinner date with the misses before the latest family arrival and some bourbon showing up at my door.
The bourbon came way of My Other Mule, who is really here for the latest arrival, but is willing to do the occasional transport.
In the box of goodies lay some EH Taylor Barrel Proof x2 and Binny's Willett 8yr x2, plus a little something extra-Thanks man!
Appreciate all the SB'ers that made it possible-Much thanks Guys.

Taking a recommendation from last night's chat, I went to Binny's south loop this morning and grabbed an 8 yr old Willett. Gotta admit, I like it more than the 21. Lots of flavor, even with the relatively high proof. Nothing wrong with a low bottle number either, if it's there.
