The best bottle of wheated bourbon you've ever had??
For me it has to be the 2010 PHC 4th edition wheated mashbill 124.2. No ice needed, incredible stuff served neat. The 127.8 is incredible stuff too but the second dump is a touch better.
I don't have a ton of experience with old SW stuff, only had a single pour of VOF once but I suspect these may be at the top of the list for some. Sure, Pappy is great but a bit soft, wish I could try it at cask strength. WLW is always a good pour to but IMO, the PHC tops it. I sure hope HH takes another stab at a cask strength wheater.
what say you?

Very, Very Old Fitzgerald, distilled 1955, bottled 1968.
Re: The best bottle of wheated bourbon you've ever had??
Personally, the 2011 WLW was not only the best wheater but also the best bourbon I've ever had without a doubt. I managed to acquire and subsequently drink two bottles of it. So I consider myself lucky.
Re: The best bottle of wheated bourbon you've ever had??
I would have to say PHC 2010 either proof are my favorites. Second place goes to 2011 WLW. Would like to find a couple more of both for the bunker, but not likely.
Re: The best bottle of wheated bourbon you've ever had??
I had some VVOF that Chuckles brought over that was pretty damn special...not only did it taste exceptional but the history behind these bottles always seems to add something extra. From a current release standpoint I would lean towards a Willett 18yr SB expression followed by either the 2006 WLW or the 2010 PHC.
Re: The best bottle of wheated bourbon you've ever had??
I really wish I could remember the specifics. Tim Sousley was kind enough to share it with some of us....I think it was a VVOF, but I can't remember the year for sure, but I think it was from the 40's.
Re: The best bottle of wheated bourbon you've ever had??
I remember 1968 because that's when we bought it. We bought some subsequently but usually made do with other brands, VVOF was the most expensive stuff on the shelf.
Re: The best bottle of wheated bourbon you've ever had??
I never had a bottle of it, but I tried a VVOF that was super tasty, though I wonder if my knowing what it was influenced my judgement. I would also put ORVW 15 up there too.
Re: The best bottle of wheated bourbon you've ever had??
We didn't have the Pappy line back then but we did have Old Fitzgerald 100 proof BIB, which I expect would show right well today.
Re: The best bottle of wheated bourbon you've ever had??
Isn't this like trying to rate your best orgasm  ? But...If I really have to...I guess the 12 year old '63 -'75 VVOF, in my avatar, which those who came to Binny's a few years back got to share in a few sips of. Maybe next a certain gold veined OWA. There has been some ridiculously tasty wheater bottles at the gazebo table (dusty Makers, Cabin Still) whose specifics somehow escape me now. Then there's the ORVW 15s from the Indy collections and Van Blankle which are serious contenders as best too. Never had the storied KBS PVW23 bottling but that has to be up there.
