Re: The best bottle of wheated bourbon you've ever had??
For me, it has always been (and will always be) a small cache S&W Lot B discovered in my wandering path during my early bourbon days. The light which appeared in my dark path guiding me to those bottles was kindly provided by our late, great friend & adviser Tim Sousley. I will always be forever grateful to Tim for his mentoring & advice when I was a newbie. Although I never met him in person (my great loss), I might very well still be wandering around in the 'whiskey forest' without his kind assistance. So, perhaps there have been - or will be - higher ranked wheaters passing my way or across my palate, but that Lot B will forever remain the best for me.
Rest in Peace Tim and thanks again! :)

I'll be the odd man out in this thread. Admittedly, I don't like wheated bourbon at all. I've had some Van Winkle, Maker's Mark and a few others, but honestly, I actually enjoy the modern, 3 year old Cabin Still from Heaven Hill. It's nice for those times I want something sweet, not so complex, and simple. And it's uber cheap!

Remind me, how many dollars in a uber?

Some good stuff so far! Sounds like I need to get a few more samples of VOF and VVOF in my belly!

I'm buying the Cabin Still for $8.50 per liter. I'd say that's about as cheap as you're going to get!

Not a best of but a best buy.
Re: The best bottle of wheated bourbon you've ever had??
I'm sure you'll all laugh- but for me it's both a best of and best buy. I have no idea why I get so much enjoyment out of that bourbon!

Oooh,
Good point. Except I'd say any and all Weller Centennial -- Louisville or otherwise -- is towards the top of my list. And to think I used to pass it up because I thought it too expensive.

Doug, I think I remember that. The GBS was doing the "thiefing" if my memory is correct.
Mighty fine whiskey.

I lucked into a bottle of this and it is amazing juice. I wish any of the recent retail had some of this character.
