Trying to take an informal poll. If you had a choice between black maple hill small batch or old rip van winkle 10 yr (107pf), which would you choose?
I'm still trying to get a sense of black maple hill--one minute I'm reading articles of people/bloggers singing it's praises, the next people saying it's just OK or that it is good but overpriced.
Would be an easy choice for me. I'd take the ORVW 10.
I've gone through 1 bottle of the BMH, only had one drink of the ORVW. ORVW hands down for me.
It's been my experience that BMH is good but inconsistent. ORVW10 is a fabulous and fun bourbon. Given the choice, I'd probably take Willett Single Barrel Estate Reserve over the BMH.
I've never had the BMH and only read reviews. If I saw both BMH and ORVW10/107 on a shelf and could only get one...the VW makes me pull out the wallet.
I'll preface with the fact that I like BMH SmB, I'm about to finish a bottle and I have a back up waiting. Still I'd take the ORVW every time. First, I see BMH all the time. It's almost always available if you really want to find it and I'm just not sure that you'd really be looking for it with other stuff to hunt for. ORVW just isn't around all that often, I mean I've never seen a bottle on the shelf. That alone would answer the question for me.
