My guess is the poured out the Pappy and replaced it with Jack Daniels.

$130 bourbon usually leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

It is very likley that bottle is some sort of Buffalo Trace whiskey masquerading as Pappy;)

I'm just waiting for the Chinese knock off "Poppy's" to show up.

Where do you think all the empty bottles are going......
Re: Pappy Van Winkle 20 year abnormal taste
Maybe a lab can analyze this stuff......but seriously I am sending this back to my buddy and getting my money back- just have to wait till he goes back home again. I have realized one thing- with the money I paid for this bottle I can spend it on several other bourbons that are extremely good. If this was jack in the bottle, then it is the most expensive/disgusting jack I have ever tasted.

Even if you aren't the one who paid for it? :D

Dave, what scares me about your comment is that it is likely very accurate. Having seen Scotch faked for quite a while, I would add high-end American whiskey to the bottles I would only purchase from a store or someone trustworthy.
