Started with the ER17 (2012) that I finally opened two nights ago. Very nice pour, with a well-balanced finish, between some sweet and a little wood, not too much of either. I was worried that 17 years is a long time in the barrel, but this juice did not suffer.
Moved on to the Breckenridge. Finishing with the 2005 OFBB.

Things escalated quickly. First an ND OGD and an Old Taylor. And some Colonel Lee BIB. Then a SB blend. Then a WSR7. Then a PVW 20. All while rewatching The Wire for the 100th time.
EDIT: some 2012 FRLESmB because I had to start another episode. Oh Lord.
I freakin love The Wire. I'm due for another re-watching, but that's a major month-long commitment. Once I start I can't stop.

I've been away from bourbon for a while, but this morning I had a nice little pour of PHC10. This seems to be my AM go to pour. I don't have to wonder why!
Last couple of days I have been sipping on Knob Creek Single Barrel. This bottle is the best I've had so far out of 4. Very sippable neat (not all have been so) and perfectly balanced. This one reminds me of Baker's a bit, but with a bigger finish.
Also, it's a screw closure. The earlier ones were synthetic corks. I'm a big fan of the screw closure, since currently the bottle is on its side in my nightstand drawer, and not leaking, as corks might in such a situation.
Nice Brisko. Always good to have a bottle within reach, for those tough moments in life, like when you have to get out bed in the middle of the night to take a leak or just plain get up for the day :grin:. Though I'd prefer a hot coffee screw closure system for my nightstand drawer. My most recent KCSB was quite delicious too, Binny's Barrel 153, synthetic cork. Good info on the cork change and wish they all had screw closure too...cork dust residue that builds up from all the opening and closing can also annoy me.Quote:
