Re: New guy from SF Bay Area
Welcome aboard David, we're a little better represented in your area than you might think. Drop by the chatroom (icon is in the lower left corner of the screen) and you may meet a few of the Left Coast contingent.
Re: New guy from SF Bay Area
Thank you Squire, from one to another. It's actually thanks to some of my fellow Squires that send me out some nice bourbons.
Re: New guy from SF Bay Area
Good Day David and welcome from Michigan.
Glad to have you here.
Best regards, Tony
Re: New guy from SF Bay Area
Hi David, welcome aboard. It's always cool to see more people from our area on here. There are certainly some enthusiasts around, but I have yet to meet up with anyone as into it as I am.
As for Bay Area whiskey societies I have only heard of one and it's in the East Bay. I don't know how official they are as I've never seen a website or anything of the sort. I've only heard of them because they help choose private selection barrels for Ledgers in Berkeley.
Enjoy your time here!

Re: New guy from SF Bay Area
Welcome aboard from Berkeley. Lots of great stuff and good folks here.
Re: New guy from SF Bay Area
You know, I'm only about 5 minutes from Ledgers....need to start spending more time there! I also heard there will be a tasting at Acme Bar this upcoming Sunday afternoon which I unfortunately will miss. Several different bourbons, Japanese whiskey and I think the St. George.
Re: New guy from SF Bay Area
Welcome aboard from SF. Ed at Ledgers always speaks highly of Acme Bar. I haven't yet made it over there. Perhaps I'll look into Sunday. There are a few stores in the Bay Area that have bourbon clubs (monthly bourbons for sale), and others that offer tastings too. I haven't met up with any SB'ers yet either, but maybe we should create our own event.
Cheers!

Re: New guy from SF Bay Area
Curtis, you're probably on to something there. We should absolutely get together for some fun and tasting.
I haven't been to Acme either, just don't get out all that much. Looking at the website they do seem to have a great selection and a cool array of flights to choose from. Especially if you want to taste some specific bottles or styles before you buy.
Always great to have more people around in the area into good whiskey. Let's make this meet up happen!
