limited to the best sellers, what to choose?
I was at a small function the other evening in which the host offered us a drink and had a very limited selection. The ever popular choices were JD, Beam white and Jamison. No mixers were readily available so it was either neat or over ice. Even though this is a bourbon forum most of the esteemed members seem to have a wide interest in all whiskeys. What would be your choice in a similar situation keeping in mind it was miles to the nearest liquor store so that would not be a ready option? I opted for the Jamison neat.
Re: limited to the best sellers, what to choose?
I likely would have made the same choice, but for a potentially odd reason. I've never tasted any of them, so the Irish would have won out, as a completely new experience. I've tasted bourbon.
Re: limited to the best sellers, what to choose?
Given those 3 choices I would have gone with the Jameson as well.

Oh, the Jamison, certainly, simply because I rarely get the chance to drink it. Bourbon is my favorite but not my only.
Re: limited to the best sellers, what to choose?
I've not yet had an Irish Whiskey that I enjoy, so I'd have to go against the trend and say JD on ice. If there'd been mixers available, I would have opted for a Jim Beam and coke.
Re: limited to the best sellers, what to choose?
Funny you mention this. I was at a function a couple of weeks ago, and they had one whiskey option, Beam white. Boy, have I been spoiled by this forum, as I had lost track of how bad some of the lower end bourbons taste. It was really repulsive.
As to your question, I'd be fine with JD, but would probably go with Jameson. I have plenty of Irish around, and definitely enjoy it as an alternative to bourbon. The basic blended Jameson and Bushmills, as well as some of the others like Kilbeggan and Tullamore Dew are perfectly fine whiskeys.
Re: limited to the best sellers, what to choose?
I have never had the Beam White so would probably try that, would probably be surprised as well.
Best regards, Tony

Didn't they have any beer?
Re: limited to the best sellers, what to choose?
Everybody is different. The last JD I had was so bad I poured it out. So, I would say Jim Beam since I've never had Jameson.
