Good picture, BettyeJo! I realise that Distillery Architecture is a short study, but certian buildings are distinctive. Those warehouses in that style probably will never be built again, unless for some reason there's a "Retro" revival in some restoration. So now the examples at the Old TW Samuels plant at Deatsville are the only surviving ones.( As far as I know, there may be another somewhere.) For those who do not know, Heaven Hill owns all but a couple of them and Maker's Mark owns the balance. Also there is one warehouse there that matches the elevation of the others but is a bit shorter in length, a little stubby one. My Grandfathers older brother was a warehouseman at Deatsville, and I remember him saying that he recalled the time when they bought the barrels to the warehouse and away to the bottling room on horse drawn wagons. Now I wish I had asked the date.
Other buildings of distinction was the distillery building, whatever the lower footprint, it carried up 3 or 4 stories and there was the smaller part that went up beyond that.
On my list of things to do , to make a few birdhouses modeled after these warehouses and an old distillery building , just not too close to the top yet. I bet a 6 inch snow would get it started! http://www.straightbourbon.com/forum...mlins/grin.gif
