Re: Eagle Rare 10yr 101....
Are you talking about LeNell's??
I understand it's still on the shelves of stores down south but it is no longer made. This may be one of your only chances to score some.
You might ask if anyone can direct you to someone who has some for trade.
Re: Eagle Rare 10yr 101....
Yes, it was LeNell's who has some.
Re: Eagle Rare 10yr 101....
Tim, It's a nice bourbon. But, I don't think you'll have an epiphany over it. It's worth whatever you feel like paying for it. IMO, there are dozens of everyday bourbons on the shelf that are it's equal, or better. If you MUST have it, spring for it. But, I would put that $33 to better use on other bottles. It's not overly special, collectible, tasty, or valuable. It just ain't made no more. Which, however, may be enough.
Cheers!

+1, 101 is tasty and IMO better than the ERSB 90. It's a good bourbon, but it's nothing to go nuts over. There are other products of equal quality readily available and for that $33 price tag with $15, you can practically buy some ER 17, which is much more worth the $50 price tag IMO.
Re: Eagle Rare 10yr 101....
I love the old Eagle Rare 101. I like it better than the ERSB. Would I pay $33? I don't know. I don't pay that for the SB, which is what they charge here in Sapporo, but then I have some of the 101 bunkered. (No, I don't want to trade and from Japan the shipping alone would be more than $33.)
Like any of my favorites, it depends on the day and my mood as to whether ER 101 is the best bourbon in the world or something better left to another time.

How do you rate this bourbon? Would it be worth the cost if I can't find it anywhere else? Thanks for your input.

Tim,
While it may be 'rare' in your neck of the woods, in my opinion, $33 per bottle is just too much.
While this doesn't exactly 'help' you, here in Texas, one can find Eagle Rare dusties all over the place. A 750ml will usually run $18-$22, a 1L usually $23-$26 and a 1.75L usually $27-$33 each.
So, at the risk of sounding like a smart-ass, yes, I have a source... it's the state of Texas.

Alright, smart-ass  What are the chances you could could help a fellow bourbon lover out?

And, seriously, everyone, thanks for your input. I'll not be devestated now if I'm unable to get ahold of some.
