Wild Turkey 17 YO?
Does anyone know anything about Wild Turkey 17 YO?
I've heard rumors that it's being released in limited amounts in Japan.
I'm not usually one to go chasing after the crazy Japan-only bottlings,
but Wild Turkey puts out such great stuff... Rare Breed, Kentucky
Spirit, Russell's Reserve, 101...
I can personally say that I've never had a bourbon that I didn't really and truly
enjoy from WT, so their track record makes me think that the 17YO might
be really great.

Dammitalltohell Tim Dellinger for the first time on this forum you just damn well might be right!!
Yes Malt Advocate reported such. Five thousand bottles of seventeen year old Wild Turkey and all going to Japan. Price per bottle = Fifteen Thousand Yen or $125 to us regular folk.
Kinda makes ya want to buy yer own still - Don't it???

Re: Wild Turkey 17 YO?
Normally I wouldn't be interested in any 17-year-old bourbon, but a recent bottle of Elijah Craig Single Barrel has opened my eyes to the possibilities. I suspect the reason for this Japan-only decision is that they have only a very limited amount of suitable whiskey available and they know the Japanese will eagerly pay $125 a bottle for it. (That actually sounds a little cheap given what I know about bourbon prices in Japan.) I don't think it would be as easy to sell in the U.S.

Re: Wild Turkey 17 YO?
Chuck that's an intriguing line of thought. Just what prices do bourbons fetch in Japan? Say the regular eight year old Turkey 101, or Blanton's, Knob Creek?

Re: Wild Turkey 17 YO?
I don't have data, just a memory that when people have told me prices, it seemed like a lot.

Re: Wild Turkey 17 YO?
Hello everybody at this site,my name is koji and I'm writing here for the first time from Japan to answer some of the question that were asked.
As for the price of bourbons(well any whiskey)Yes it is expensive!
Anythings expensive in my country anyways.Like the prices that Linn asked,8y old 101 WT 750ml is $18,Blanton 93P is $25,Knob Creek is $28.This price is calculated by the latest rate, and is only
an average figure. How are these prices?
Yes about the 17y old WT.The price in $ will be around $100 at
a local shop. The taste. With my poor english vocabs it is hard to
explain.I think it is a beatiful bourbon, maybe too smooth.
I kind of like Rare Breed or Russel's Reserve more myself for what
I pay.Ihope I can bring a Bottle to this years festival if I can make it there.

Re: Wild Turkey 17 YO?
Hello Koji, and welcome. It's good to hear from a bourbon drinker in Japan.
I must ask; did you make a mistake while typing, or is Blanton's really $25 US over there?
Cheers,

Re: Wild Turkey 17 YO?
Thanks for the info.
Actually, the prices you stated are quite a bit less than what I pay in the state of Alabama, USA. Here, WT 101 is $24, Blanton's is $45, and Knob Creek is $32.
So, maybe thisng in Japan aren't as expensive as you think.
