How did I miss out on this?
Last night I went to my favorite bar, Buddy Buddy, for the first time in a long time. There I learned something that made me want to weep. Last month, Wild Turkey had a tasting at a local hotel. Jimmy Russell came. Jimmy Russell was in Sapporo and I never knew it. I did get to see a poster he had autographed, but, as you can imagine, it wasn't the same.
It wasn't a total loss, the bar had a bottle of Wild Turkey American Spirit. It was exquisite. Probably the best whisky I have drunk all year. I will definitely go back to Buddy Buddy to have another drink of that elixir before the bottle is empty.

Sorry to hear that, Ed.
It's good to see that Jimmy still gets around - I was told by someone from Pernod Ricard we can expect him and/or Eddie some time in 2008. I would love to see him again and would love to meet Eddie!

I spoke to Eddie on November 1 and he was leaving for Australia the next day, so you may have missed him.

Jeez, if that's the case, it was the most under-promoted trip ever :(
I really wish these big companies would get behind their people/products with proper promotion.... or am I expecting too much :skep:
Re: How did I miss out on this?
Apparently Jimmy also did an appearance at some bar here in St Louis on "the landing." Never heard about it and still can't even figure out which one it was, I am thinking whichever one it is must have a decent bourbon selection and might even have the American Spirit. I'll guess I'll have to just go to them all this weekend maybe...

I'm pretty sure he said Australia, but it might have been Japan. I'm positive it was one or the other, but I don't have a note. I'm pretty sure it was Australia.

WTAS is truly a great whiskey! I've benn bunkering it (not my normal practice) as fast as the bank balance will allow. Next time you get back to the states, I'll be glad so send you a bottle.

The breakup was -
12,000 bottles - US
6,000 bottles - Australia
6,000 bottles - Japan
You shouldn't have any trouble finding a bottle. Sake-brutus have it listed at Y11,300, which by current exchange has it a little higher that US prices.
It was released in Japan on the 1st of November, so maybe that is where Eddie was going. Or maybe Jimmy went to Japan and Eddie came here. All I know is it wasn't here on November 1 when it was supposed to be.
Another interesting thing I saw on their site is they will have Four Roses Small Batch in Feb 08

Hi John,
That is so kind of you to make that offer. I really appreciate it, though I don't think I'll take you up on it. As Scott points out in his post, it is available here. I haven't seen it on the shelf though. Also, it's a little pricey for me now as I'm underemployed at present. Still, I might be able to justify getting one bottle.
