Also, just for information purposes, Julian did many other bottlings not yet mentioned using wheated bourbon that are no longer produced. I have an Old Rip 12yo/105 proof that is excellent. Then there's the Blue Smoke 18yo, Berghoff 14yo, etc etc.
Julian brought one of his unique bottlings, his personal favorite, to the Gazebo and shared it with us several years ago. It was a 14yo (or 16yo) from early '70's SW bourbon. Most of us concured, it was at or near the top of the best SW whiskeys we had ever tasted.
It would be difficult (impossible?) to make a complete list of all wheated bourbon bottlings if we include these out of production examples.

Randy's modesty prevents him from mentioning "Van Blankle", a single barrel bottling of Lot "B" he commissioned and kindly gifted to all who asked. And it's a fine whiskey to boot.

I'm one of the seemingly few who prefer wheaters (by a slight margin). Ranking the ones I've tried:
Pappy 15/107
WLW BTAC 2006
ORVW 10/107
Pappy 20
WLW BTAC 2005
WLW BTAC 2007
Pappy 23
Weller Centennial
Weller 12
Van Winkle Lot B

whats BTAC?
Also, I noticed for Old Fitz at the store that the BIB is a lot more than the 80 proof in price. also, hows the 1849? Don't know which one to buy.....
BTAC is an acronym for Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. It is a collection of bourbon that is put out usually every fall by BT. It consists of Sazerac Rye, Thomas Handy Rye, Eagle Rare and George T. Stagg.
As for Old Fitz, the BIB would be more since the proof is 100. I've never tried the 1849 myself. But my suggestion is to buy the BIB. I have a current bottle and it's a good wheated bourbon. A one liter bottle cost me $19.99, I believe.
How about Society Of Bourbon Connoisseurs, Twisted Spoke, Old Commonwealth and the original Black Maple Hill's?
They were bottled by JVWIII, are they wheaters?
There is a hell of a lot of good ones. If I have to pick one I think it would be WLW-06. To hard to rank after that.
