Re: Jim Beam Bonded Bourbon?
Not myself, but we have a few other members from your area of the globe so I am sure one of them we'll chime in very soon. I'd love to hear some thoughts on it because I don't think I'd ever heard of it before...
BTW, welcome to the board.
Re: Jim Beam Bonded Bourbon?
Haven't heard of it either. Very odd that it would be Bonded and 101 proof, as Bonded (or Bottled in Bond) means it is 100 proof in the US, with no flexibility that I"m aware of.
Re: Jim Beam Bonded Bourbon?
I've purchased a bottle of this on two seperate occasions when returning to Australia from an overseas trip....
It's been a while since I last tried it (2 years or more), but from memory it's not a remarkable pour, but is better than White Label. (I don't drink Black Label, so can't compare it to that.)
I think it used to be sold in the USA, but wasn't a big seller.
Re: Jim Beam Bonded Bourbon?
Hi Jack,
Welcome to the forums! Glad to see another aussie here!
I used to be a big fan of this. I haven't had it for quite a while but nearly got a bottle last night, a place near me has it for $65, which is about as good as it gets. Not too bad considering it is a 1L bottle.
It is 100 Proof, or 50% alcohol and I think it may be the same as the old Jim Beam Gold Label that used to be sold up until about 2001.
Where in Oz are you?
Cheers
Scott
Re: Jim Beam Bonded Bourbon?
In Toowoomba at the moment whilst i am at university. I have been drinking bourbon for about two years though only the last six months i have started drinking it neat. So far my 'collection' is JB black, JB small batch, Makers mark, wild turkey 8yo 101, elijiah craig 12yo and a Bakers Kentucky straight bourbon whisky. Also have some other cheap stuff such as JB white, bulliet, cougar and woodstock that i only use for mixing. As im only 19 and a full time student i obviously can't purchase as much as i would like to though i am enjoying the different bourbons i am trying and learning quite a bit of forums. my next purchase will probably be the JB bonded and possibly a Bookers if finances allow
Looking forward to learning more of you more knowledgable bourbon drinkers.
Cheers Jack

You've had a nice start and introduction to bourbon, Jack....especially considering what is available in Australia. I would recommend trying the Cougar XS, a bit better than regular Cougar. Also there's a bourbon available at Liquorland (If there's no LL there you can get it at 1st Choice) called Iron Horse. It's 2 for $50 at the moment and for a cheap bourbon it's fairly decent. I haven't had it straight, but it makes an ok mixer.
Also, one I am a big fan of is the Wild Turkey American Spirit. It's starting to get harder to find, although First Choice may still have one or 2. Sells for $124.99, but it won't be around for much longer. You will also find Wild Turkey Russell's Reserve 101 there for $75, which you will find is a favourite amongst members here, and is also no longer produced.
Cheers
