If you come to the USA there are tours of the distilleries where the bourbon is made. You could fill up your luggage with bourbon and justify the expense of the airline ticket. :)

Tangent....my father used to drink beer from:
" Joseph Huber Brewing Co " out of Monroe, Wisconsin....
So, even with the slightly different name spelling, maybe some remote cousins came over and started brewing beer!
What would Germany consider its native liqour...Schnapps?

No need to travel out of Germany in order to get great bourbon. The Swedish assortment is disastrous so I regularly order from a couple of excellent stores in Germany. They usually have most of the Antique Collection (at a cost of course...) as well as the van Winkle family and many other bottling not easily found in regular stores. If you don't feel confident with on-line ordering, they all have "real" stores as well. If you live in the vicinity a trip could pay off...

As a matter of fact I'm living in Stockholm, Sweden, but as it happens I visited Berlin just a couple of weeks ago. My bourbon hunting took me out to Big Market (not really in the central parts though...) where I found some nice additions to my bourbon cabinet.
I noticed that they had Pappy van Vinkle 20, George T Stagg and Eagle Rare 17 (I grabbed a lonely 2001 bottling). They also had a couple of Boone's Knoll 16 Y bottles at 80 Euros a piece. On this forum Julian van Winkle has confirmed that this is an early bottling of the Hirsch 16 for the German Market. This should make it similar to the early blue or gold wax versions (I mention this since many have been let down by the gold foil version).
