What Wee Dram are you enjoying now?

Just getting into my new bottle of Bowmore Tempest. This is my style of Islay whisky.

I agree that some time in the glass, and a bit of water, goes a long way for this one. I don't get so much fruit (some lemon, perhaps), but more of a vanilla sweetness and also fresh laundry. Sounds weird, but hey, I love that smell :D.

A little Talisker 10 to follow a very interesting glass of New Glarus Smoked Rye Ale (see the beer thread): I think it would have been better matched to an old-fashioned highlander like Ardmore or Springbank 10 but I have neither at the moment.

First taste of Bruichladdich Port Charlotte An Turas Mor. Hasn't opened up quite yet but I'm too impatient to wait. Initial tasting notes are...

Nose is somewhat sweet with hints of ginger, vanilla, and seaweed.
It has a very smooth entry, almost non-existent with an immediate explosion on the back palate of dried peat and a honeyed spice sea breeze. The finish is medium length with peat giving way to some heat and lingering pepper.

Very nice so far!

Damn, sounds good. I've only had one Bruichladdich and I loved it.

Some 11 year old Tamdhu tonight. Looks nice and sherried.

First pour of the Ardbeg Uigeadail. Fantastic stuff! Heavy smoke (to be expected from an Ardbeg) but with a delicate touch of sherry sweetness. Nothing is overdone, and the contrasting notes are balanced perfectly. I can definitely see the appeal of this expression.

I've had several of the Ardbeg expressions lately, and i find the Uigedail to suit my tastes the best...... It's a shame they aren't making it anymore.
