Laphroaig QC. A winner!!!
I'm with you guys on the Laphroaig QC- probably my favorite of their lineup, and I love 'em all. And I agree with UB about the Islays. I think they're best in the fall ... maybe with with little burning leaves in the air (or around here - burning rice chaff). ... It's warming up quickly here, which is why I had a nice pour of the anti-islay (IMO): Glengoyne 10 - no smoke, just clean, wholesome and healthy,... the Wheaties of SMSW. If Bruce Jenner drinks, he may be having this for breakfast.
... and I'm fortunate to be following it up with a pour of Glengoyne 12 cask strength ...
...yep, it's springtime !
Enjoying my Redbreast CS and a padron '64. Hands down the best pairing i have had so far.
Stumbled upon a Kilkerran Work in Progress last night and bought it. I don't know if it's the 2nd or 3rd release. To my palate it was spectacular, like a Springbank with cider and grassy notes. Not much vanilla, either, which is welcome, as I don't like that in my Springers.
Springbank continues to impress me!
Tonight I enjoyed an after dinner glass of Bushmills Black Bush.
Also some Crown Royal Limited Edition neat. Smooooooth
I am savoring some Auchroisk 20yo. This is a great scotch for a bourbonian. I rarely drink scotch, but I really like this stuff, and I'm noticing this evening that while good bourbon usually fills my entire mouth with flavor, this delicate, unmolested dram, cask-strength at 116.2pf, stops short of impressing itself upon my soft palate. It carries the best kind of cereal notes, kissed by vanilla and in the 105pf range offers the perfect full-bodied bite while not overwhelming.
I'm not used to drawing out all the flavors in a scotch, or I'd go on. I like this stuff, though, and intend on making it last for many, many months.
I had a nice pour of RB12 CS last night - terrific stuff!
