Re: What Wee Dram are you enjoying now?
Courtesy my friend G. Hodder, some wunderlicious Macallan that issues from a NDM, thus very rare. It is called Battlehill Macallan 16 years old. It omits the definite article "The" as do the few merchant bottlings you see of this storied brand. (Hart is another that has occasionally issued a Macallan). It is soft, elegant, distillery-tasting yet with the grace that long aging can impart. You can connect it to the The Macallan yet it is somewhat different, perhaps the sherry cask it was aged in differs from what The Macallan uses, or maybe no sherry was used at all. Whatever explains it, it is a par excellence example of the greatness of Scotch whisky distillation and aging expertise.

Last night was a Springbank from 1978. NAS from DT at 46%. Loads of vegetables and fruit. Kinda changed slowly from fruit into the stronger vegetal notes as time went by. Quite a nice treat.
Re: What Wee Dram are you enjoying now?
In honor of Macallan 12 going NAS I am killing my bottle and never shall it return
Re: What Wee Dram are you enjoying now?
The Glenlivet Nadurra 16yr. Obviously, I greatly prefer the Islay's. But this Glenlivet is lightyears beyond the standard 12yr, IMHO. Not Laphroaig but still good stuff.
ON EDIT: This Nadurra is 54.2% ABV, bottled 06/11 and is batch no.0611N.
Re: What Wee Dram are you enjoying now?
After another 100+ degree day, it finally cooled off enough tonight to head out to the porch for a cigar. figured something light and refreshing was in order so I went with some Concannon Irish
Re: What Wee Dram are you enjoying now?
tonight I finished off the Signatory Vintage Laphroaig 1991 that AC Detroit left me a few months ago. Thanks again Tony!

I tried a few new ones recently.
Tamdhu 10 year - Decent flavor, but nothing special about it.
Glen Moray 12 - Fruity speyside with no spice at all.
Re: What Wee Dram are you enjoying now?
Ardbeg day, very good - isn't all Ardbeg(?) - but not quite remarkable as expected.

What is unique about the Ardbeg Day? I've only had the 10yr and the Uigeadail. Both were exceptional, imho.
