Re: What Wee Dram are you enjoying now?
The last dram of my Glenmorangie 18-year, the older version that is matured exlcusively in American Oak. I think some of it is re-used bourbon casks, while others are new casks.
The oak is absolutely HUGE for what is really a light, delicate Highland scotch-- almost as heavily-oaked as some of the 10+ year bourbons.
The newer 18-year is matured for at least 15 years in American oak, then for at least another 3 years in Spanish oak. I look forward to trying it, assuming that the state will ever decide to carry it at some point...
Re: What Wee Dram are you enjoying now?
Since the other thread was about Speysides- A wee dram of Glenlivet 21.
Re: What Wee Dram are you enjoying now?
A little bit of White Horse.
Re: What Wee Dram are you enjoying now?
My first dram of Lagavulin 16. It is an absolute stunner!! Camp fires on the beach!!! Smoke, smoke and more smoke with some peat thrown in. Sweet sherry and salty. Wonderful layers of taste. I think its my favorite Islay!

Hi Gov,
I share your sentiment regarding Lagavulin. I also highly recommend the Laphroaig 15-year. There are many similarities, but a few subtle differences.
Re: What Wee Dram are you enjoying now?
I want to try Laph 15, thanks for the recommendation
Re: What Wee Dram are you enjoying now?
Bladnoch 15 yo cask strength is about to go in the glass.
Re: What Wee Dram are you enjoying now?
Scapa 12yo 1991 (G and M, 40%). Malty center, gentle peat, sweetness from the malt, and mabye some refill sherry. A sample sealed from a bottle I had over a year ago- good stuff. Scapa is very underrated (or at last under appeciated).

Ah, yes, the John MacDougall collection. I think I'll help myself to a dram of that right now...
Re: What Wee Dram are you enjoying now?
Had a scotch whisky tasting at my house last night. Here are some photos. Very nice drams and everyone had a great time.
