I'm new to the board, but have been into cigars and whiskey for some time. Last night I had one of the best duos I have ever had. It was a glass of Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye 13 yr. old and a Vegas Robaina Unicos. This torpedo and the rye was unbeleivable! I am starting to really love this Rye whiskey, even (gasp) more so than bourbon. Any others out there like this?
Re: Great Pairing!
A high-end rye is IMHO the best of the best, and the Van Winkle 13 is right up there. Try it with a pipe of dark-stoved Virginia - it brings out the copper, molasses, and orange notes.
