Re: Which Water of Life Did You Purchase Today?
So I did not pick them up cause I am not sure of the profile. Today on the way home I came across a store with (3) Ballantines 30 yr old... these were old government tax stamped bottles. I guess I should have asked to see if they were 750ml or 4/5 Quart bottles. Any thoughts on this bottling? Would you buy them for say three bills?
Should have taken pictures as well but didn't think about it till now.
Thanks in advance guys.
Tony

So here's why I was teasing you about opening the Bowmore. I sold 2 to a guy. He'd planned on this as an investment. One got opened, He thought it was the most amazing Bowmore ever. Needless to say, I got another call. That was the last one I've seen in person. He told me they were no longer investments. Resist if you can Greenman. You've got a winner.

Picked me up a bottle of Laphroaig 18yo 96prf.
If I told you what I paid for it you would say "NO WAY!!!"
Then I could ony respond with "WAY!!!"
So I won't start an argument.

Finally found Laphroaig 18 at one of the local liquor stores. At 69.97+tax here in Michigan, I could not pass it up. The same price as the Laphroaig 15 it replaced...and 3 years older, 48% vs 43% abv, and non-chill filtered. A great deal but I bet that price won't last, especially when I see the prices elsewhere.
I have too many bottles open right now, so I think I will bunker this one until I finish the bottle of Laphroaig 15 currently open on my bar. I'll save the last dram or two for a side by side tasting.

I can get the Lap 18 for 69.99 no tax in NH. In MA it's $140

Hazelwood Reserve
Janet Sheed Roberts was the last surviving grandchild of Wm. Grant founder of Glenfiddich and Balvenie. A special bottling of 20 yo 105 proof Glenfiddich was given to Grant employees and "friends" for her 100th birthday. That was the Centennial Reserve. For her 105th birthday another special bottling of 15yo Kininvie, the first single malt bottling of that distillery ever, was bottled as at 105 proof. Again, this was only for employees and "friends". Finally for Janet's 107th birthday a limited edition of 500 bottles of Kininvie was made available at Heathrow's new Terminal 5. That is the Hazelwood Reserve a 17 yo 105 proof sherry casked bottling. Probably not to many complete sets of the triplets in the world but I have one :)
A special thanks to MichaelPCo and scthornton for their help in acquiring some of the above. I couldn't have done it without them.
