I have one open bottle and one not yet open. I treasure them both, partly because I don't expect to ever find one again.

Vintage 17 (the bourbon, not the rye)(duh!)
Not exactly common, but on the other hand, doesn't disappear three nanoseconds after hitting the shelf. $50-70 depending where you live.
More consistent too.
No local store sells it, but one in Eugene does. Whenever I'm down there I swing by and buy a bottle or two.
The bottle number on eBay is 15.
Wondering why you didn't give the bottle number in your original post.
Of course.
There's one going on eBay with a BIN of $3,000
If that's not you then you could follow it and see how much he actually gets.
As do I.
And you should know me well enough to not take me too seriously.
Oh, the curse of a sardonic sense of humor. They told me that bourbon was the potion that would cure it, but it...
Now, now. Don't try to convince John that he's wrong. If you succeed he'd have to change his avatar.
Of course it will. Especially if you drink it from a Waterford glass.
Will, meet Georgia. Georgia, Will.
A thick skin. That will serve you well here.
You sure have. And dropped some serious cash there, too.
I agree that DBS has an edge over #12, but it's not twice as good, and it costs over twice as much (at least here in OR).
But then, the high price and fancy bottle may actually make it more...
Lost me there Georgia. Dickel #12 is a fave.
Regarding vodka
A $13 and two $20 vodkas. Not throwing away too much money there.
That'll be true for nearly all of them. We have one here in...
So Georgia....got any favorite vodkas?
I believe I'll pick up a bottle when I'm in CA next month.
I mean, it's not like I'd drive all that way just to save $4, but since I'm going to be there anyway...
At that price I wouldn't hesitate.
Huh?
Oh, wait, you aren't in Oregon.
It being the FR entrant in the hotly contested JDBL/WT101 price range category, let's look at how it stacks up (OR prices):
Jack Daniels Black Label...
You just made my day! :slappin: :slappin: :slappin: :slappin: :slappin: :slappin: Thanks!
True too, except that I don't actually recall the brand of bourbon. I made it WT just to squick Paul.
Added via edit:
and in case it wasn't clear, yes, they were mixing the bourbon...
Better late than never!
Wow. That just triggered a memory.
In 1978 I started my first job, as a statistician/programmer in a division of the Florida DOT. For the office Christmas party I...
If corn is not a fruit then why do fruit flies keep kamakazing into my bourbon?
Not a darn thing. I think it's a great concept. I occasionally spike root beer with a little vodka to make "hard" root beer. If the vodka had root beer flavoring, it wouldn't dilute the taste.

-- Ode to Ron --
We wait for news, with breath abated
of tasting notes, and bourbons rated
by Ron and friends, the stalwart lads
who seek to pick the good from bad.
A worthy quest, this...
If you mean what I think you mean (and I think that you do) then, no, because it never gets rusty.
Not me. I have an ironclad alibi.
Really. I was at the Mariner's Museum in Newport News assisting with sanding rust off the turret of the USS Monitor.
No reports. Perhaps he didn't survive the experience.
Damn, somebody went and bumped this irritatingly-titled thread. Oh, wait, it was me.
The local bird population would disagree with you. In the spring I put out saved trimmings, which they use for lining nests.
The chicks love my beard. :slappin:
