I revisited this last night and it came off as sweeter than I recalled. Still very good but the maple-filter may be a double-edged sword.

I wish this were available in the Twin Cities (if it is, I've never seen it). But we get the 8 year old, 86 proof still which is some consolation.

No, not that Fleischmann's. What you see around here is Fleischmann's Preferred, which is a blend. The rye is a straight rye.

The Gold Label is a staple in my house. I've never seen the 6 y/o around here.

Come back to it after it's been open for a couple of weeks. I've had similar experiences with a variety of bourbons and this effect seems to wear off with breathing.
