Penn has changed a bit since my days in Dietrich Hall...... still a great place!!
I grew up in Hunting Park ..... Wharton 78'
Welcome... where abouts in Philly are you from... I spent a lot of years there...
Should one assume that the bottle counts indicated on a bottle of single barrel whiskey relect the actual number of bottles that were in the barrel?
I suspect as much as someone will pay....
IMO...Better than regular MM..... but that really does not say much. Pretty poor value at a $36 price point...again IMO...
Opened a 10/107 2007... excellent pour with a huge vanilla extract palate. This expression really seems to change year to year... possibly batch to batch...
IMO the EW BIB for about $12.50 in Va. is a great value.... the best of the 3 you mentioned to my palate.
$17.95 in Va...... All the rest are $20+ if I recall... I would reach for the 4R before the JD, OF and JBB....as for the others I suppose it depends on the night.....
Probably the best value all around bourbon in the under $20 market. For an 80 proofer it has enough flavor to enjoy neat and works well as a mixer. Always a bottle open on my bar....
for me it remains one of the safest bets when dining out as it is always good and readily available.....
This stuff seems to be all over the place. A few bottles from 2004-05 were fine... the last stuff was just as you describe it. Why the variation???
Nice review Joe.... This has always been a good pour but has been a bit over shadowed by its other family members.
I find this to be a good all around value play for mixing and using in recipes.... eggnog, marinades, etc. A bit hot to my palate for a neat pour.
Not a bad pour but one that I tend to pass by often.... still only half way through my first bottle. When I use rye as a mixer WT or RITT is my go to and when I want it neat it is Handy or daddy...
Another classic that is becoming very tough to find....
Still drinking through some 2002 bottles that are very good... will probably grab a few newer ones given the positive comments...
Where abouts in Md. are you? Close to DC/VA?
This is dead on to my take.... especially the easy drinking part... very soft to the palate...
This is always a bit of a moving target as both my tastes and the bourbons change over time.... what is always opened and bunkered today..

We recently did an informal tasting of Tribute, AS and KS. I preferred the AS over the other two, but it is important to note all were excellent. I felt the AS was very well balanced, had an...
Have not been to a Nats game yet but get to Baltimore for a few games a year. I am about an hour from BWI.... let me know the next time you are in (after July 6th) and lets see if we can catch up for...
Joe, I am in Virginia just outside of DC.. been here for 20+ years. I do get to the Philly area a few times a year as I have family in Doylestown, Sellersville and friends throughout the area. Sadly...
Joe, Phils fan here also. Spent many a day at Connie Mack. Grew up in Hunting Park in North Philly... took the Broad Street subway to see the Phils play at CM. Had season tickets at the Vet for many...
