Welcome! Always nice to have more Hoosiers on the board!
It's very possible that B-F distillate went in there. They have also sold bulk whiskey many times over the years.
It's also possible that B-F made some bourbon for Heaven Hill in the post fire...
I had a bottle of this 2-3 years ago. It was not bad but not very interesting either. It's not sold here but I saw plenty on the shelves in Ketucky. I didn't pick any up. I spent my money on handles...
Welcome Flee!
:fish2::fish2:
Welcome Matnab! Good to have another on the board! Cheers!
Great! I grew up in Indianapolis and there are some great members there. Again, welcome!
Welcome OD! Whereabouts in the Hoosier state do you live?
No, not off topic at all. I had just never heard of an Old Charter 101 proof from the 1970s. I'm interested in learning more about it.
There was a 101 proof Old Charter in the 1970s?
The bourbon this thread is talking about is actually Charter 101 (no old). What does your bottle look like?
Welcome again Pete! Glad to see you're making it forum official.
Cheers!
Thanks for the tip! May pick another one up.
I may have been a little harsh. You can definately do a helluva lot worse at that price, but Charter 101 is, at best, a mixing bourbon. It does very well in coke and pretty well in a manhattan and...
Cherry cough syrup is cheaper and it tastes the same.
Welcome Joe! We have a nice little gang in this part of the state, but are there many bourbon entusiasts you know of in West Michigan? Or is the pull of wine & beer too strong?
This was a big favorite of mine early on but I don't find myself drinking it much anymore. I think it's a fine bourbon at a good price, but it's not something I find myself yearing for, like VOB or...
Welcome. Count your blessings when it comes to the bourbon selection in Houston. Michigan isn't bad as far as control states go, but there's still a lot we can't get.
Interesting choice of name....
Welcome, and please post often. Too much testosterone around here sometimes.
Cheers and I hope you'll be able to make it to the Sampler this April!
Welcome Brian! If you ever make a run for the northern border let me know! I'll break out the good stuff.
Welcome! This place is being overrun with Boilermakers. Not that that's a bad thing.
Good selection, but it needs an infusion of Four Roses, in my opinion. Binny's can help you with that.
Welcome!
Welcome Sam! Thanks for letting us know of your presence. Cheers!
Belated welcome Bulldog! I grew up on the Northside of Indianapolis (the actual Northside) just a short drive from Butler. Never seen VOB BiB in Indiana which is too bad. Plenty of 90 & 86 proof tho....
I would like to apologize for not seeing this thread soon enough and missing out on the snark and opportunity to fight on the forum. I hope you can all forgive me.
I'm a licker. Just ask my wife.
What he said. You may be Russian, but that beverage you're drinking was made in the American South. Things move more slowly there. Pour some into a real glass and try to make it last as long as you...
