I have two bunkered, and left the last couple I saw on the shelf. Around here it seems we always got hosed on the price; at just under $30. It tastes drier than the LDI juice, and younger than...

I haven't tasted any for several years. Back then, I liked it.
I thought the Wathen's was pretty decent bourbon. I just find that in it's price range ($30+ around here) there are many good bourbons or ryes nowadays.
I haven't had any Wathen's lately. The other bourbon that I've tried that sort of reminded me of Wathen's was the 2009 OF Birthday bourbon. The birthday bourbon was a little drier, but had a lot of...
It's odd that in Indiana, I rarely see 1L bottles of liquor.
Welcome Old Dusty, from another Hoosier, and Weller fan!
I like this as much or more than Bulleit Rye, and it's $5 less. I've noticed that Willett, Bulleit, and now Dickel put Lawrenceburg, IN on the label of the ryes. No smoke, no mirrors, no monkey...
It may be interesting to note, they changed the label recently. I can see both the old, and new labels on shelves at the same time. I don't believe the whiskey has changed. OF Signature is one of...
I have heard this topic come up before. Apparently in some states, stores like Sam's and Costco must allow non-members the ability to purchase alcohol. My understanding goes something like this. ...
Yeah, that's a good description of VOB. Welcome. There's also a bonded version in some states.
Those higher end little bottles are not so easy to find. Nice
Some bottles are a lot harder to pour from than others. If you go with a speed pourer, I would put the regular cap on it when you're done serving guests.
Trying pours at a well stocked bar is a good way to decide if you like something. My simple rule is anything 86+ proof with an age statement is worth trying. Anything bottled in bond is...
Pav, The tax stamp on the top of the bottle dates it to before the early 1980s. Ancient Age is still around. Here in Indiana I can only find the 80 proof 4 year old. I think some states can get a...
Welcome Ben. It's nice to have another member from the Indy area. I think it's great that you're into single barrel selections.
:searching: :icon_pidu:
Welcome Jon, It sounds like you've got a nice situation there. The one store in my area that does some single barrel selections hasn't had any the last couple of times I was there. Watch out for...
I've never tried it, but I have enjoyed most of the other ryes I've tasted. At one time or another, I've seen the other VW products in stores, but never the rye. I'm wondering what the regular...
Does Australia get Old Forester, or any version Weller? I'm suggesting those, as I see you enjoy many of my other favorites. I have Ritt BIB, and Saz in the front of my cabinet
I'll second the if you like Makers Mark, try Weller. If you can't find it in NJ, they have it in NY.
Try anything that says "bottled in bond". Anything over 80 proof, or with an age statement is worth a try. After you have tried some stuff from several distilleries, you'll know what you prefer.
If you like OGD 114, you may like Rittenhouse Rye. I prefer Wild Turkey Rye compared to RR. I like Sazerac quite a bit.
It would be interesting to know when the brand changed to the modern stuff. My own experience is that it had to be at least before the mid '90s. I bought the 86 proof Yellowstone fairly often when...
I've seen this listed on line for $37, but I believe it was even a bit higher at a few of rhe retailers where I saw it in person. Maybe I'd try it if I found a 50ml bottle, or a good sale. Are all...
Weicome to the site, A couple good pours that you can probably find are Wild Turkey 101, and Old Grandad 114 or bonded.
Evan Williams for $10 is hard to beat. You could try some of the bonded bourbons by Heaven Hill: JTS Brown, Dant, Old Heaven Hill. Also by HH is Ezra Brooks 90 (another decent budget pour). Maybe...
