Paris, check the bourbon social thread: http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?21628-Dallas

I know there's been a couple (that I've unfortunately had to miss), and recent talk of...
  5. Re: Howdy from Dallas, Texas! Need more suggestions!

    Welcome aboard, fellow Texan!
Since you are in Texas, I'd suggest some of the Balcones' whiskeys. I know some new batches have hit, as I've seen their Single Malt and Rumble whiskey in a few stores...

Re: Guess I'm not the only one!

Welcome Donuts, those are some fine choices in your list of favorites.
Binny's should carry several Smooth Ambler bottles, if you want to find some.

    All of mine are (were)113.2
I'll have to look for the batch 2, and see if I can make out any difference. (Because, I'm a giver and willing to drink more bourbon in service to my fellow man).

Sticky: Re: BOTM 11/14: Maker's Mark Cask Strength

I can take or leave regular MM, but I really like the CS. I'm on my third bottle, and haven't found any of the strong corn or overly woody/hot characteristics others have noted.
    Guess i need to...

Re: New member from DC area

Welcome HOF. Have you tried the latest (lower proof) Stagg JR release?
I'd be interested in your thoughts compared to the 134.4 first release.

Re: Hi from Nashville!! And newbie question...

There are far more knowledgeable people here than me, but I'd suggest you try a few different types (Wheated or Rye mashbills) and producers to get a baseline of what you like.
    Maybe try some...

  19. Re: Where / What to buy in Houston, or along drive to / from Austin?

You might be able to pick up some Balcones products in that area. Some Rumble, or maybe a stray bottle of Single Malt.
ETL was once plentiful in TX, but seems to have dried up, at least until the...

Re: NewB from NJ (just had Widow Jane)

I just looked at the Widow Jane site again.
