Welcome Reggie! Lot's of great Michiganders in this forum. Speaking of which, when are we going to get together again, guys (and gal)?

In fact, I recently was turned on to a Jim Beam distiller's series for $19.95. It's a very enjoyable pour for me and one of my favorites in the Beam line-up!
You're right on mozilla! There are a lot better pours out there in the $20 range. Years ago when JBW was inexpensive, it wasn't a bad pour for the price - mixed great with coke.

Actually, Oscar was right. I said I really didn't like wheaters until I tried a couple at our sampling. I also never tried them "up" - always on the rocks. I could really taste the flavors better...
Welcome aboard Blitz,
In my humble opinion, there's nothing you can mix with most any scotch that will make it drinkable!:slappin:
Enjoy the all the knowlege you'll find on this site!

Hey Oscar,
Didn't you and I try this one neat at our get together a few weeks ago? If I remember right, I couldn't believe how great it tasted for such a high proof. Or, was I drinking...
I use a product called Private Reserve Wine Preserver which should be available in most wine stores or large party stores in your area. It's an inert gas that forces out the oxegen in the bottle. I...
I tasted all three at the distillery back in August, and the difference was amazing between the three of them. Although I liked the Small batch, I thought the single barrel was much better. I...
I agree with you to a point. Here's an example. I was at HH Bourbon Heritage center. They had Parker's for $120 a bottle and the tour guide told me it was ONLY available at the distillery. Later...
Welcome Jean and I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I was recently in the area and have a few suggestions. My first piece of advice is DO NOT buy your bourbon at the distillery's. For some reason,...
Bad Frog Beer was the name of the brew - beer with an attitude! After you visited, the brewery was hit by a tornado (1995?) and was closed for a couple of years. Remodeled and reopened as a brew...
You've missed a lot over the years Craigthom and unfortunately, it's not all good news. Bronner's is still there although Wally (the founder) passed away a few months ago. The chicken restaurant...
Thanks Sion for the great suggestions! Does anyone know if the old Frankenmuth Brewing Co. plant is still standing in Louisville? It was referenced in Sam Cecil's book, and I've been collecting...
Welcome Jay - enjoy your stay. Great place, wonderful people and tons of knowledge to glean from all the members. I'll be heading the Bardstown area myself in about a month. Need to re-stock my...
Joe - thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to check out the retail scene for me in Bardstown! You guys Rock!

Also, I was going start a thread eventually on a good Rye for someone who has never had one - Thanks to Twilly and Jeff Mo for getting me started in the right direction!!

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and keep the idea's coming if you have any other's. Looks like a bottle of 4 Roses will be coming back to Michigan with me!

I recently tried Bulleit which I really like - around $24.00 here in Mi. Also, EWSB is a regular pour for me - just under $30 in these parts. A little smoother than the Bulleit, but I like a little...
Thanks Joe, I'll tread carefully when I'm there!

Thanks Jeff! I'll look up Toddy's when I'm there.

Hi DJ,
One of my favorite inexpensive bourbons is Very Old Bartons. I haven't bought any in over a year, but the last time I did, it was under $15 up here in Michigan. Welcome to SB - a great...
Hi Everyone,
I'm going to be spending a couple of days in Bardstown in August. I'm looking for some suggestions on what bourbons to buy down there that I may not be able to find in Michigan. I...
Willkomen from Frankenmuth, Josh, and thanks Will for that link to the state price list! Josh I think you're going to love this site!
