Re: New member that's new to Bourbon.

Welcome, and have fun! I must warn you, though - these folks have totally corrupted me to the point that I feel I am the sole support for my favorite liquor store. :)

    Re: Top Shelf Chick

I've found that a glass that focusses the nose improves the overall experience. Like this dark beauty I'm sipping on now. Oh, wait, this is Diet Coke.

Seriously, though, I did find that...

    Re: Top Shelf Chick

Doggone it! I have never picked up a bottle of Dickel 12, but I can see that my next trip will require it. As if I didn't have too many bottles* in my stash already.

    *There is no such...

    Re: Howdy! Another Texan here.

I'm out in Arlington. On the 'dark side', I am fond of the 1975 Glenrothes 30-year old. Good thing I have six bottles, as those puppies are EXPENSIVE.

    Re: Top Shelf Chick

I tend to keep a spare bottle of the Willet pot still around. I refer to it as the "I dream of Jeannie" bottle.
  6. Re: Another long-time listener, first-time caller

And don't forget that many stores also have the sample-sized bottles for non-expensive tastings.
  7. Re: New documentary about bourbon seeking help

I completely agree here. You might want to make the brands anonymous so that ebay jerks and unappreciative drinkers don't make a run on the market for ANY of the brands.

    Re: Can't find Pappy anywhere!

I've heard it will be out in the next two weeks, so just keep visiting your favorite store until it comes in. Good luck.

    Re: Maker's Mark a disappointment.

One of the first bourbons I tried was MM, and even then, I was not very impressed. It DID improve when I tried it from a Glencairn glass instead of a regular glass.

Even so, I would consider it...

    Re: New, seeking Bourbon advice

Personally, I think you do your friend a disservice by getting him something he can't replace if he really likes it. Get him something nice that will be available.

    Re: Unopened bourbon-safe to drink

    Re: Weller 12 v. OWA 10/107

Well, technically speaking, since alcohol weighs less than the other ingredients, the 107 should weigh less than the 90, although you might find that the 107 has more gravitas.

    Re: BOTM 10/10: Sazerac Rye

I just finished off a bottle of Baby Saz last night. I need to make a run to the store to replace it (well, that, and a few other bottles).
  15. Re: Welcome, And Helpful Hints For New Members

Something I've discovered is that Google is also your friend for finding SB.com information. I've performed several searches on various bourbons with Google, only to be given lots of links to SB.com...

Re: Scotch Drinker learning about bourbon

Welcome to the board from another 'mixed drinker'. I like my scotch, bourbon and Irish, as well as the occasional cognac or apple jack.

I'd say you have the ideal situation going - holding tight...

Re: Newbie Intro and tasting question

    Welcome to the group!

I'm sipping some Maker's right now, but don't get the moldy hay finish. Maybe a teeny, tiny bit of new-mown grass, but I've never really had a long enugh finish with Maker's...

    Re: Howdy from Arlington, TX

Well, I haven't really experimented much in the month that I have been drinking again. Mostly just finished off a bottle of The Glenlivet XXV, and started in on the Midleton Very Rare, with just a...

    Howdy from Arlington, TX

After ten years of being told I shouldn't drink while on my medication, I find that not only am I allowed, but that a drink a day is good for me (So far, I'm up to October 17th, 2019 - evil grin),...
