Sticky: Re: BOTM 6/14: Jim Beam White

As usual, I agree. As such, I've probably only ever bought one bottle. There's cheaper stuff that tastes at least as good, if not better.

I had a pour of MM at a restaurant/bar the other day. It was good whiskey, but I still think it's overpriced.

    Re: Hello from Northern Virginia

Hi Jeff, and welcome! I think you'll like Mellow Corn - it has a nice sweetness, and it's also instructive as to the corn and aging components of whiskey flavors.

    Re: Evening from the midwest

If you can displace some of that "good" scotch with good bourbon, things might be a wash, or you may even come out ahead!

I just looked at the whiskey tree, and it's not completely clear to me which mashbill was used for Ten High.

I didn't take it off my list, it's just a notch or two lower now.

Sticky: Re: BOTM 9/13: 1792 Ridgemont Reserve

Interesting. Being a Ten High straight fan, multiple people have suggested that I try 1792. BUT if it's a different mashbill, I might not like it as much.

Squire, I agree. Ritt BIB vs OGD BIB does a pretty good job of proving that, IMHO.

Why do they call it Pot Still? Was it once made with a pot still a couple hundred years ago?

    Re: Hello from Michigan!

Welcome from Kalamazoo! I'd like to second what Squire said - the most expensive (by far) bottle of bourbon I've ever bought is Angels Envy, and it's very good, but it's not the best bourbon I've...
