As usual, The Squire nails it. But more than 100 proof is required by the BIB Act. The whiskey must also be the product of a single distillery made during a single distillation season and spend at...

I have a friend who is a martini drinker. His theory is that you have to just get the first one down as quickly as you can. Then the second and third are enjoyable.
Personally, I prefer bourbon...
If you don't ask where I live, I won't ask where you live. Or hold it against you. You'll soon find that SB is a marvelous place to expand your bourbon knowledge. Bourbon of the Month and Tasting are...
Am approaching the end of a the family-size HH BIB (white label) and really sorry I didn't get another when we came through KY a couple days ago. (At least I had enough sense to get more AAA, OWA,...
Yes, bourbon feels thicker as the evening progresses. (Or, maybe my tongue just gets thicker.) I have also found that mouthfeel improves if you just hold the bourbon in your mouth a few seconds...
How about this?
With a little help from my wife, did a semi-blind tasting in Glencairns of Kirkland with bigger brothers KC and Baker's. "Semi-blind" because I knew what the three bourbons were but...

Sorry, Tony. Alcohol sales in OH are highly regulated. Costco sells wine and beer but no "hard liquor" in the Buckeye State. I have, however, purchased Kirkland in FL, AZ, and SC.
Welcome!
When in Columbus, I shop at Weiland's. Ain't no Party Source or Liquor Barn but, for Ohio, the selection is pretty good and the staff is helpful. They are also eager to expand the bourbon...
Welcome, Jon. Because you are relatively new to bourbon but have already amassed what amounts to considerable experience, I am curious about the bourbons that you find most satisfying at this stage...
Actually, there are two officially recognized perfect times for some bourbon drinking: Now and Later.
Eagle Rare is nice for $30 and even nicer at about $21. If you ever get over to Montgomery County (outside of DC), check out the excellent prices available there. See www.montgomerycountymd.gov for...
While you are thinking about what you are drinking, you might want to keep some notes, probably quite sketchy at first, about what you perceive, what you like, and what you don't like. Look back in a...
In addition to giving the EC 12 a chance to open up over time, I would encourage you to give yourself a chance to open up over time. Years ago, for example, I was not at all impressed by Bookers....
Had some EWSB 1996 and EW 1783. The 1996 went into barrel 39 on 2/19/96 and was bottled on 11/22/05. If my history is correct, this makes it pre-fire Bardstown juice.
The nose was rather tight at...
I have never had Benchmark. Someone who likes it (or not), please provide some tasting notes. I'd like more information than the conclusion that "this is swill" or "this is a good value pour."...
Earlier this week we were at Heaven Hill in Bardstown. If you haven't been there, you ought to make a point of visiting. They are very welcoming and accommodating. I asked to taste some Henry McKenna...
Even better! FC dusties and plenty of them. Ya done good, boy!
Enoch,
Assuming that you are in Columbia, SC , how in the world is it that "The store I bought it from had about five or six cases left"? Even during their losing seasons, the Gamecocks played in a...
I was well on my way to becoming a bourbon snob when I discovered the pleasures of the "lower shelf." I find a lot to like in AAA 10 YO, VOB, Charter 101, Fighting Cock, and Ezra 101.
The BOTM may...
Unless it is a trip to Montgomery County, Maryland for the best boubon prices in the country.
Welcome aboard.
My wife used to think that Crown Royal was about as good as it gets. She now knows better.
Our son-in-law is from Toronto and he thinks that beer is as good as it gets. He'll learn...
