Sticky: Re: BOTM 5/15: Jim Beam Bottled In Bond

My initial notes are here: http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?23240-Bonded-Beam-is-back/page11

My verdict is this is the White Label with much more body and heft. I like this...

Sticky: Re: BOTM 4/15: George Dickel No. 12

I haven't tried this in a while, and this BOTM might inspire me to get another bottle. I remember liking it alot...definitely better than old no. 7, but not as good as JD Single Barrel......but...

Sticky: Re: BOTM 3/15: Buffalo Trace

I think BT is one of the most perfect middle of the road bourbons. Perfect balance of sweetness and char. Although it is an easy drinker at 90 proof, it definitely has much more depth than any 80...

Sticky: Re: BOTM 2/15: Stagg Jr.

I have also experimented with vatting the Stagg jr, and so far the best combo I've is 2 parts Buffalo Trace, 1 part Stagg Jr. Definitely better than either of them separately.

Sticky: Re: BOTM 2/15: Stagg Jr.

I had bypassed this product on several trips because I was never a fan of the bottle of regular Stagg I purchased in 2012. I'm one of the very few bourbon enthusiasts who is not a fan of Stagg. ...

Sticky: Re: BOTM 11/14: Maker's Mark Cask Strength

I love this stuff so much it has prompted me to liquidate all of the Weller 12 and OWA that I have (1 case each). IMHO, this is what wheated bourbon should taste like!

Sticky: Re: BOTM 1/15: Wild Turkey 101

Along with Dant BIB and KCSB, WT101 is a staple in this house. I always have a bottle on the bar. I love the honey notes that most all WT products have. This one is no exception.

Sticky: Re: BOTM 3/14: Maker's Mark

Was just reviewing these comments as I finish off my first bottle of MMCS. And I couldn't agree more with Weller_tex...the current plain Maker's blows WSR (and OWA for that matter) out of the water....

No private selections in my immediate area, but driving less than an hour I found a cask strenght OESQ that has become one of my all-time favorites!

Sticky: Re: BOTM 11/14: Maker's Mark Cask Strength

I am more and more impressed with this stuff. In side-by-sides with the only two wheaters I really dig (WLW and PVW15), the MMCS held its own except for the nose.

Sticky: Re: BOTM 12/14: Four Roses Single Barrel

For my taste and my budget, absolutely one of the top 2 of the readily available products on the shelf today. This is the bottle that sent bourbon from something I enjoyed frequently to becoming a...

Sticky: Re: BOTM 11/14: Maker's Mark Cask Strength

Just picked up a bottle of this and my first impression is that it is fantastic. Lots of warm cinnamon and vanilla. I'm going to side-by-side this with WLW and Pappy 15, the only other two wheaters...

    Sticky: Re: BOTM 8/14: Blanton's

I like Blanton's a lot, but at approximately half the price, ETL is nearly indistinguishable (actually I think it has a better longer finish) to my palate. I had one store selection of Blanton's...

Yeah, I had certainly noticed the metallic taste in all of the bottles I had tried before...and it was curiously absent in this most recent batch.

I posted these observations in early May going off memory of my last bottle 12 months ago. Just picked up another bottle on sale. This new one is the first one I've found where the mid-palate...

Hello, and welcome, from Bethesda, MD.

The Montgomery County stores stock 95% of whatever I want to buy, and their prices on most things (notable exception FR Single Barrel) are equal or better...

JBW is not something that I want to drink when I'm in any sort of contemplative mood, but I have yet to see a similar low proofer that "stands up" to ice so well. It amazingly maintains its flavor...

That's too bad. Last year, Stan was assisted by Bernie Lubbers in picking out his McKenna and it was not chill filtered. I think it was the second best new bourbon I tried last year...behind PHC...
