    Re: Need Help in Japan

I do not -- I go there frequently enough that I import/export my own! (I seem to recall that they do not ship overseas directly, but there are other services that handle that for you. You'll have to...

    Re: Need Help in Japan

Oops... I looked more closely. Narashino is east of Tokyo, and pretty much everything I listed is west or northwest. There is a Kawachiya very close to Tsudanuma station.

    Re: Need Help in Japan

    (Didn't see this one!)

Kawachiya is showing availability online and there are shops all over Tokyo. The biggest whiskey selection that I know of is Tanakaya near Mejiro station. Shinanoya in the...

    Re: Hello from Boston

Welcome from the Rte 128/I-93N corridor. Eventually we'll get a quorum to do some organized tastings!

    Re: New from Boston

Hey Tim -- how far north of Boston? I'm trying to get a quorum together of folks between 128 and 495 to do a bimonthly study group.

Sticky: Re: BOTM: 4/12 Benchmark Old No. 8

Drinking the Benchmark No. 8 (against a 7yo age statement version of EWB).

Very young, with predominant corn husk. Not a pushover like Ten High, but I would agree a good cooking bourbon. It might...

Sticky: Re: BOTM: 4/12 Benchmark Old No. 8

For the first time in a long time, I have the BOTM in my cabinet (and saw this in the appropriate month!)

Unfortunately, tonight I'm drinking the (almost) original Benchmark, post-Seagram's-label...

    Re: Boston Bourbonite.

Hi Jason! I'm up in Andover, working in Burlington. It looks like we're getting closer to critical mass for a North of Boston/128 tasting group! (Glad to see another appreciator of JBB, too.)

    I...

    Re: Warm greetings from Boston

Welcome Joel! I work in Burlington -- maybe we can get a little critical mass from the north of Boston crowd (south and Metro West are better represented.)

Stopping by Federal on a lunch break...

Re: BOTM 5/11: Four Roses Yellow Label

As always, missed the BOTM during its M. Joining the chorus who like it as a summertime sipper. FRYL is one of the few labels that I buy in multiples when on sale as a guilt-free go-to pour with ice...

    Re: New from Boston

Welcome -- just had a Buffalo Trace at the Precinct in Union Sq. last night! (Blanton's on the back shelf too, not bad for an ex-police station...)

Re: BOTM: 3/11 Old Fitzgerald BIB

Possibly the first time ever that I've had the BOTM in the correct month -- coincidentally, last night I poured an Old Fitz BIB from a "Blarney" decanter, distilled 1964/bottled 1970.

    A little...

Re: New Japan member's liquor cabinet

Hi Rob. Welcome to the board!

A good next step in your bourbon education would be to seek out Craftheads in the Jinnan neighborhood north(?) of Shibuya station. The owner, Koji (a/k/a Michael), is...

    Re: Weller 12 v. OWA 10/107

I prefer the boldness of the Old Weller Antique (with or without age statement) to the Weller 12 -- you can cut or not depending on your drinking mood.

Old Rip 10/107 has the advantage of being...

    Re: How'd I do?

Waaiiit a minute... first taste of HH whiskey and he comes up with "eucalyptus" in the tasting notes?

You'll do just fine here (and that was a good price for a good upper-middle-shelfer.)

    You...

    Re: Need suggestions

+1 for Old Weller Antique 7/107 as the best value within the wheater realm (but only because ORVW 10/90 is the sole version available around these parts.)

I also second Special Reserve on the Lot...

Re: New Guy Doing a Nutty Taste Test

When I do comparison tastings, I use "Simply Naked" pita chips, slivered almonds, or bread -- don't want any salt or seasonings to get in the way of the flavors, but water alone isn't enough to clear...

Sticky: Re: How To Get Started.

To Chuck's question, I've been acting as "bourbon guide" to a friend of mine by setting him up with 3- and 4-bottle flights of 50mls drawn from my collection.

Similar to what Chuck proposed, we've...

    Re: BOTM 8/10: Weller Centennial

Re: BOTM 7/10: Rittenhouse Rye BIB
