Re: BOTM 1/10 Weller 12 Year Old

Weller 12 is a long-time go-to pour for me. Similar to the experience of others, I've been having a hard time finding it locally (in my case, Florida). I also noticed a price creep (theoretical,...

Suffer with the Eagles? You want a new definition of suffering, try rooting for the Dolphins! :(

But you're right, drowning one's sorrows with a fine pour takes some of the pain away.

  3. Re: trying to learn more than "casual bourbon drinker"

Weller 12 yo is normally $23/bottle in SE Fla, sometimes on sale for $21. Can't get the Antique or the Centennial here at all.

    Re: Newby Intro

I agree. The PVW 10/107 is terrific, and is approaching the 15/107 as my favorite pour, esp. at $20 a bottle less than the 15yr here in S. Fla.

Another vote for Weller 12 yr. It's one of the few Weller products available in Fla, and at $21, it's becoming my everyday pour.

    Re: Greetings from Florida!

Nice to have another Floridian on board!

I'm located in Hollywood, just S. of Ft. Lauderdale. I'll be interested to hear if you know of any interesting retailers in the WPB area. In my area,...

    Re: Recommendations

I agree, you'd probably like Elmer T Lee, Weller 12 (a very good buy), and any of the Van Winkle products.

I can recommend But Always Fine Bourbon, a very interesting tale of the Van Winkle history.

Re: What's is your daily Pour?

Lately, I find myself reaching for Weller 12yr. Great taste, and relatively easy on the wallet.

Re: BOTM, 2/07: Pappy Van Winkle 20yo

Pappy's 20 was my 2nd super high-end bourbon, after Hirsch 16. I almost broke my wrist getting my wallet out to pay for it. Needless to say, I was blown away as to how good a bourbon could be. I...

Re: BOTM, 2/07: Pappy Van Winkle 20yo

You might want to try Totalwine (www.totalwine.com). Looks like the store closest to you is Tampa. Pappy's 20 is $80 + tax. They have a pseudo-online page for their Tampa store, but they do not...

Re: Your Favorite Bottle before you had a pour.

I like the clean look of the GTS and ER10 bottles, but they're difficult to store due to their height. Also like the old fashioned labels of the PVW line.

I'm still on my first bottle of Hirsch gold foil, don't taste anything that could be construed as metallic. Just a great mix of wood and vanilla. Would love to try a gold wax version for comparison....

That's interesting, Randy. I can't compare to ORVW 15, which I've never experienced, but I had my first taste of PVW 15 tonight, and found lots of maple syrup, both in the body and in the finish....

So were both ORVW 15 and PVW 15 from Stitzel Weller, or just ORVW 15? If the latter, where is/was PVW 15 produced?

Sorry if I'm being dense here, just trying to learn.

    Thanks, Dave.

Being a relative newbie, I'm still trying to decipher the whole S/W, Bernheim, Buffalo Trace provenance thing. So was ORVW 15 a S/W product, and the PVW 15 is Bernheim? Or am I...

    Availability

As PVW 15yr has replaced ORVW 15yr, is the former a limited release in any way? It's somewhat available here in FL, but not easy to get (true of many upper end brands). I was wondering if there's any...
