Re: Affordable Bourbons and Ryes for Beginners

It said "Special Reserve" on the label, and the 7 year old was on the bottle head. I don't remember seeing what proof it was.

Re: Affordable Bourbons and Ryes for Beginners

WL Weller 7yo was $14.99, Buffalo Trace was $19.99, and WL Weller 12yo was $24.99.

Is the WL Weller 12 year old heads and shoulders above the 7 year old when you factor in price?

    Re: Hello from Germany

    Guten Tag!

If you come to the USA there are tours of the distilleries where the bourbon is made. You could fill up your luggage with bourbon and justify the expense of the airline ticket. :)

    Re: Hello

I enjoy most rieslings and gewurztraminers and sparkling whites. I'm more picky when it comes to reds, mostly sticking to zinfandels.

    Re: Hello

A little time has passed, and the smell is not nearly as strong as when first poured. The smell is much nicer and softer. Lesson #1, I think WT101 benefits from sitting in the glass a couple minutes....

I just opened a bottle of Wild Turkey 101 and had my first surprise-- I expected a metal screw cap, but there was a cork! The smell is strong with a little sweetness. I added one teaspoon of water to...

Thanks for the suggestions. Keep them comming!

I just returned from the store with a 750ml bottle of Wild Turkey 101. I'll post my thoughts a little later when I try it for the first time. Any...
