Saw it was batch 3, reportedly better, so I bought one.

That would be the current NAS version of the EW 1783? I've used EWSB since 1783 went NAS.

No it's not GTS, but the last third of the one bottle bought to date went into Ron's Four Grain 2.0 and it worked well for that. If I want to make more of that I guess I need to buy another bottle.

WT 8/101 was my go to in college. I won't say exactly when that was but will admit that my major was flint knapping.

Brought home a bottle in 1992 that tasted...different. "Did I accidentally pick...

Sticky: Re: BOTM 9/13: 1792 Ridgemont Reserve

Where are you getting it at that price? The OLCC set price is $15.90. Plus the closest place you can get it is Big Y Liquors in Eugene. The price of gas wipes out the price advantage, so I buy it...
  6. Sticky: Re: BOTM: 7/12 Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye

I have one open bottle and one not yet open. I treasure them both, partly because I don't expect to ever find one again.

Vintage 17 (the bourbon, not the rye)(duh!)

Not exactly common, but on the other hand, doesn't disappear three nanoseconds after hitting the shelf. $50-70 depending where you live.

    More consistent too.

No local store sells it, but one in Eugene does. Whenever I'm down there I swing by and buy a bottle or two.

Re: How much is a Willett 27yr worth?

The bottle number on eBay is 15.

Wondering why you didn't give the bottle number in your original post.

    Of course.

There's one going on eBay with a BIN of $3,000

If that's not you then you could follow it and see how much he actually gets.

    As do I.

And you should know me well enough to not take me too seriously.

Oh, the curse of a sardonic sense of humor. They told me that bourbon was the potion that would cure it, but it...

Of course it will. Especially if you drink it from a Waterford glass.

    Re: Top Shelf Chick

I agree that DBS has an edge over #12, but it's not twice as good, and it costs over twice as much (at least here in OR).

But then, the high price and fancy bottle may actually make it more...

Lost me there Georgia. Dickel #12 is a fave.

    Regarding vodka

A $13 and two $20 vodkas. Not throwing away too much money there.

That'll be true for nearly all of them. We have one here in...

I believe I'll pick up a bottle when I'm in CA next month.

I mean, it's not like I'd drive all that way just to save $4, but since I'm going to be there anyway...

    Huh?

Oh, wait, you aren't in Oregon.

It being the FR entrant in the hotly contested JDBL/WT101 price range category, let's look at how it stacks up (OR prices):

Re: New Guy Doing a Nutty Taste Test

Not a darn thing. I think it's a great concept. I occasionally spike root beer with a little vodka to make "hard" root beer. If the vodka had root beer flavoring, it wouldn't dilute the taste.
