I recently purchased my first bottle. I find it very hot, even with water. Neat or with a splash I just can't get into it. It was a little better on ice. Where it really shines though is in an Old...

Welcome! Treasure, yeah I like that description.
Welcome. The NKY-Covington-Newport-Bellvue area is bourbon heaven. I live an hour away, but try to hit the area once a month or so.
Welcome from SW Ohio. Be prepared to get mentally, emotionally, maybe even a little spiritually consumed, in a good way.
OWA-Weller 12 vatted is referred to on here as the "SB blend". It is my go to daily pour. Sometimes though, as a change of pace, I enjoy a vatting of Makers and M46
Welcome, always good to see Buckeyes on here, especially Daytonians. Century Bar is about as good as it gets in Ohio. I second the notion of trying a wheater, unfortunately Ohio is pretty desolate...
Not sure how I missed this post. Welcome. Phil T is right, TPS is our somewhat nearby oasis. Ohio is improving though, slowly, but improving nonetheless.
I agree. Not bad, but not great. It is growing on me a little after a month's worth of air, but it will probably remain a "nice" midweek pour, a change of pace from OWA. Luckily for me, I don't pick...
What he said......
I have found this bourbon to improve significantly after the bottle level getting near half and open for months. I have a 40% full bottle opened last fall that is now fantastic.
I'd never really thought about it until reading your post, but I'm a fan of peaty Islay single Malts, but with bourbon I have a bit of a sweet tooth, preferring richness above spice and dryness. And...
My preferred method is to pour both into the bottle, hand it to a buxom woman, then have her jump up and down while holding the bottle. Win/win.
SB blend, but instead of 50/50, maybe 70/30 W12 to OWA to get more wood influence.
DEPS selected 2002. I struggle with HH products, with the exception of PHC10. I not a fan of "minty" bourbons and many HH are heavy with mint. My Kahn's EC12 is frustrating between beautiful...
Welcome. You'll find this site addictive.
BPS has the best beer selection in town. They've expanded their homebrewing into its own store, Brewtensils.
I second that sentiment, welcome.
Welcome. I agree on the AAA, the current/recent TPS selection is very good. While I enjoy TPS, as someone who drives an hour to get down there, TPS and CnB are both must stops each time down....
Ah, another Daytonian. Welcome.
Welcome! Total wine in Kennesaw has been my go to place for beer, specifically Dale's Pale Ale when travelling south.
Welcome. I try to get to Cleveland at least once a year to hit the breweries. I guess I have another reason now.
Welcome to world of bourbon nerd heaven.
$13.95 in Ohio. Not much oak presence, but very smooth, not much burn even neat at 101. Pretty sweet, big mouthfeel, a lot of corm on the nose. The aroma/flavor combination while drinking reminded me...
While searching for a special occasion bottle in the northern KY/Cincy area, I found some of the norhtern Ky kroger locations carry ORVW 10/107. $25.99!!!
