Re: Sipping rum suggestions for beginners

You actually picked one of the most bourbon-like rums on the market. (To my tastes, Mount Gay XO also falls in that category.) I think that's why those two appeal so much to hard-core bourbon...

Once and for all I've got to get my hands on some SA Revelation and Balcones Texas Rum. And Mount Gay XO for $24? Fabulous deal!

    Re: Rum Forum

After reading many online reviews and comments here on this thread, I purchased the Flor de Cana 7 last year but, to be honest, I was disappointed in it as a sipper. It eventually went down the hatch...

EC12 is rocking tonight. And Fozzy's EC12/Larceny combo too. Chuck in The Band and you've got a perfect evening!http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/08/12/eaeacdc9b7d81a161879d06f63338394.jpg

I think the last part of your statement is very telling. My guess is that your palate has changed far more than the whiskey has.

Sticky: BOTM 8/15: Elijah Craig 12 year old

Too true on all counts, Joe. I would be hard-pressed to think of any other quality whiskey that has taken so much abuse in the last four or five years. Like you, I never once experienced any of those...

EC12 was my "gateway" bourbon and one I still love to this day. Great taste, great looking bottle and great price still, though creeping up marginally over the last few years which is to be expected....

Can't find Pussers 15 or the SARR around here for some reason. Bummer! Let us know what you think of them.

    Re: Greetings from Germany!

Just curious. Are you German or an American living in Germany? The reason I ask is that your fluency and phrasing is quite like ours, more so than an English person's would be, for example.

Good advice, Boozer. It truly is one of the best values under $30 and an eventual hike is to be expected but I'll keep on buying it, just like Rittenhouse BIB after several price hikes here in...

Thanks for the tip. I already purchased one bottle of the 8-year-old and have a bottle of the 15-year-old in the bunker waiting to be cracked open. Definitely different from every other rum that I...

Strange though, about its limited appeal. 114 seems to fly under the radar here as well as near as I can tell. But for the fact that it's regularly praised here on SB, causing many to buy it who...

The world of rum is indeed a potential rabbit hole but one well worth investigating. I took to it like a fish to water, as have several of my bourbon-obsessed friends who had never tried rum as a...
