Welcome from another amg!
EC12 is great bourbon, and that's not even with consideration for the low price. I always keep it on hand.
I've never seen one (of the current incarnation) that wasn't Lot #1.
Welcome aboard! You oughta be able to find Rittenhouse up there I think. Check out http://www.liquorli.st where you can search the database of what's distributed in Michigan. Also shows state minimum...
It's long discontinued. There may be dusties in the wild, but those would be few and far between.
I'm pretty confident that I'll never have the opportunity to taste it, but cheers to those of you who have!
I'd further add that most distillers have a certain house flavor profile that you can find in a majority of their products. Some of it's probably related to yeast, some to mash bills, still proofs,...
That's correct. You can also use the pharmacy without being a member.
I wish this came in smaller bottles. I'd like to try it but don't want to spring for a whole 750.
There are still some good independent stores and Crown Liquors. 21st Amendment is getting just as bad as Big Red on pricing.
If you haven't opened it in six months, and it's nearly full, it probably hasn't changed much. Might be worth a revisit though. Maybe let it air out in the glass and see if it's more enjoyable?
Just poured some from a bottle I've been slowly working on for almost a year. At first I found the vitamin notes repulsive, but this one's grown on me somewhat. Definitely more interesting than that...
Welcome aboard from a fellow Indy resident! Keep an eye on the Bourbon Social forum.
Yeah, I don't think they've ever incremented that number.
I was never too excited about the standard bottling of this, but I've had a good store pick recently. Nice big vanilla.
Welcome aboard from another central Indiana geek!
SAOS is Smooth Ambler Old Scout.
I can still find it for $29.99 and you can't do any better for the money. Lots of complexity without any off notes. Red fruit, caramel, vanilla, spices, and it really sips like it's quite a bit lower...
Not really a favorite of mine, but always a nice sipper for the money, and often the best bourbon on the shelf at some bars. Curious to see how the profile changes with the NAS version.
That's what the 2010 PHC was, right? It would be great if they made that a regular release!
Sounds like you don't like the Beam profile, then. I'd start by taking a look at the whiskey tree: http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?15005-Whiskey-Tree/page13&p=285944#post285944
I just opened a bottle of this tonight. Local store selection, bottled December 2013. This is a great, balanced pour! Extremely easy to sip, with lots of vanilla and caramel and nothing unpleasant.
Welcome aboard! Looks like you enjoy the BT juice. Lots of great information here.
Welcome aboard, David! If you're looking something with less burn, the Evan Williams Single Barrel is a great pour at 86 proof. If you can still find the 2003 vintage on the shelf, I prefer it to the...
Welcome! There's a ton to learn here, and some great guys.
