We have talked before about putting bourbon in the freezer, something many people do with vodka. I never thought about this before, but the information below I found on the website of a craft distiller and it makes a lot of sense. Note that this would apply to any cork-finished spirit.
"It is dangerous to put any corked bottle that contains liquor in the freezer. The cork will shrink and the alcohol will evaporate, leaving just water. Eventually, the water will freeze and the bottle will crack. It may even explode."
