    Hello from Edisto Island SC

Nice forum guys!!! Bunch of super knowledgeable guys and I've enjoyed
    lurking and learning, thanks!
I'm a long time bourbon drinker and have, in the last year or so, moved into
the better brands and have enjoyed it immensely. Whole other world out
there with the good stuff. I'm a 50ish some odd concrete contractor
and live on a barrier island off the coast of South Carolina and work in and
around Charleston SC. I'm a long time Port drinker and enthusiast and
watch collector that enjoys a good bourbon. Thank you all for allowing
me to post and be a part.
How about a picture or two?

    Jim,

Welcome! Great picture. I too enjoy the wealth of knowledge the members are willing to share here. I have learned a lot from everyone. I hope you will jump right in and post more pictures and share your experiences with us.

I'm sure a man of the trades living in such a historic area has plenty of bourbon tales and other great posts that will brighten our day.
Often I am forced to deal with the fact that I prefer bourbon over dealing with facts.

    Welcome aboard Jim.
I don't know anything about vintage watches, but that Omega on the left looks interesting.
Is it something from the past or fairly recent?

Thanks for the Welcome Guys. Lots to learn from a great group with
superior knowledge. I say hang around the smart folks and it may rub
off on you. Charleston SC is a great town, we've got a Martini Bar in
downtown thats got a great selection of bourbons that can't be purchased
locally, a super place to taste a little, mix in some good conversation
and have a great time. Its in an old historic building that screams:"Lets have
a drink......or two". Throw in a couple of outspoken watch collectors
and you got a head bumping contest only made better by good bourbons.
Oh yeah Oscar, that particular watch is The Omega Marine Chronometer.
Circa 1972 and the most accurate wristwatch in the world. Still is.
    Thanks again guys!

And Jim - that Olympus SP-350 takes a nice shot. I like the color and sharpness... couldn't help but analyze this pic. BB

I thought it was a blast from the past.
I remember it now, I wanted one back then but I settled for a Timex from K-Mart.

Bill, thanks for the kind words, I'm a crappy photog, its my wife's camera
and its got too many buttons. I'm pretty much a : complicated is bad, simple is good, kind of guy, I don't see it changing in spite of my wife.
Oscar, the good thing about a real watch enthusiast is that they like ALL
watches, windups, quartz and the like. I'm an enthusiast. I've got a Timex
and wear it too. Its like you bourbon guys, I never sipped one I couldn't
find something redeeming in if I looked hard enough. The glass is always
half full no matter what. Thanks tons for the comments.
One more thing: We call the guys that turn their nose at so called lesser
watches, snobs, I have no idea what the bourbon guys call them but pass
that bottle and we'll find something to talk about...........
    Thanks again.
    jim
