Berghoff Bourbon redux

There was a 2006 thread about the Berghoff Restaurant in Chicago closing and a discussion of their private label bourbon. The Berghoff is back open with some changes...it is now called the Berghoff Catering and Restaurant group....still serving food and beer. The menu below lists a "distinctive 7yr Berghoff Bourbon."

On the prior thread, discussion centered on the 10 and 14 yr old bourbon...attributed to VanWinkle. Any clue who is providing the current 7 year old bourbon?

I have not been in the place...maybe Chuck or Lost Polito?

They advertise a Bourbon Night on Wedn and Fri....3 distinctive bourbons or a single pour of "17/west at the Berghoff Bourbon" ??? What is that?

I absolutely adore that bar, but I haven't been in there recently. I suspect Julian VanWinkle is still their supplier and their bourbons are comparable to the bourbons he sells under his own family name. That has always been the case so I don't see why it would have changed. Julian always liked them as a customer, since they were his biggest customer. I'll continue to operate on that assumption until I receive information to the contrary.

I agree about the Berghoff (though I think it's been almost 20 years since I was there.)

Regarding the provenance of the namesake whiskey, remember that Delilah's switched from Julian-supplied juice to KBD (and not for the better, IMHO.)

I have been in the "New" Berghoff once since it changed hands. If we're specking of the old historical building, I was a little taken aback on that last visit, and have not returned, but perhaps should. All the old staff had been replaced, and that saddened me quite a bit. I remember my first visit to the "Bar only" side of the Berghoff. Such a treat. I ,being 23 , newly in town from Kentucky, and still feeling like a fish-outta water, stuck out like a sore thumb, and was treated so nicely by the Bartender, "Dario", and several regulars. When I let them know that I was from KY, a bottle of bourbon appeared, and it was quickly killed, or at least dented. I remember it being very, very good. Seems like like it was somewhere in the mid-teens. 7 years ago, so I'm a little foggy. Perhaps I'll pay them a visit again.
