Any other members? Thoughts so far?
Looks like you missed the Willett that was released after
    the Stranahan's.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, those two were
the only bottles I have received from the AWC. I have
no idea as to why they didn't contact me or ship out
the later releases but I have no interest in mailing them
every time I hear a new bottle is released. A shame,
as I was really looking forward to trying new drinks.

Does anyone know if they put out the Maker's Mark
bottling hinted at in their Oct. 2009 blog entry?

    Re: American Whiskey Club

No idea about the Makers. I canceled my subscription. Too expensive and bland bottles. Getting hammered for $15 s/h for each bottle was too over the top for me.

I got the Willet, Stranahans snowflake, Tuthilltown, and the 4 Roses.

IMO I did not care at all for the red wine finish on the Stranahans, the Willet was horrible, and the Tuhilltown Rye was interesing to taste. I have not opend the Tuthilltown Corn and the 4 Roses was good as usual.

Someone mentioned earlier that they like having a surprise in the mail. I would have preferred some notice. I don't know that I am that big a fan of the blind shipments. Also, if I'm paying $15 for shipping they should work to leverage that shipping cost by allowing it to be combined with another order. I never asked them if they could do this, but in hindsight it makes sense to me as a consumer but probably to hard to keep track of for D&M as shippers.

I think that shipment was the 4 Roses. They must have just found a barrel in KY generally and not at MM. When I joined they had Willet's and Stranahan's and I opted for the Stranahan's. You should give them a call and see what happened. I do like the focus they have had on craft distilleries (Stranahan's, Tuthilltown, House Spirits) thus far. I would never get to try those otherwise.

I've thought about combining shipping too, but unfortunately I can't have more than one bottle shipped to me in IA at a time.

I didn't mind not knowing what the bottle was - shipping
without me knowing was something I didn't like. Signature
required with no one home doesn't work so hot.

Well I actually opted into shipment notification so I knew when things are coming. You have to call them or email and expressly ask for notification otherwise the default shipping method is no notification.
