Has anyone heard of Bedford Brothers or Hughes Brothers Distillery?

I'm doing a little research ... What I've been told so far is that there was apparently a distillery started in Bedford County, PA about 1872 ... making pure rye whiskey ... I think it was either named Hughes Brothers or Bedford Brothers Distillery. I also think it made whiskey until prohibition, and then shut its doors forever.

I would guess that they made Monongahela Rye ... but not sure ... and I have no idea what brands were made there.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Jeff,
Why not post the information so that we all can learn?

    Christian,
It is nothing like that. The information that was being looked for is on BE.com in detail.

Just as SB does not want folks lifting info from here for BE or. BD.com, it would be inappropriate for Jeff or others to lift info from those sites.

Jeff and I send folks over to SB all the time. A few of us that float the other bourbon sites do our best not to infringe upon the other sites.

There is a lot of politics between the sites that we do not care to get involved in, but do respect the owners of each site and will respect the wishes and feelings of each party.

If Bourbon Geek would like to summarize the info he gained, I think that would be appropriate.

Jeff may not be the most tolerant person for off topics , but no one can accuse him of not being free flowing with bourbon knowledge.

If I have some time tonight, I will summarize the history that I have in this area.

It would be best if you delete the interchange above though so we can keep this thread pure.

    Take care,
    Emerald

Thank you for clearing that up Spun as well as did Jeff in a PM. Politics being what they are, it'd sure be nice if the bourbon knowledge wasn't divided...
