    Mark Twain

Has anyone tried Mark Twain by Heaven Hill? My local retailler just got some in the other day and gave me a taste. I didn't think it was too bad for $10. Always looking for another everyday pour for my bunker.

Hey S_C.....thanks for the recommendation. Bought some this evening, and a very good bourbon for $10.

I wish the stuff we got here was the same as the 12 year old 100proof version they ship to Japan. Here it looks like another pretty low end 3 year old 80 proof version of Heaven Hill bourbon...which is fine I'll drink it and like it for sure especially for $10...but 12 year 100 proof sounds like my kind of juice man!

Are you talking about the red label Evan Williams?

Is mark twain a current product from heaven hill. I have never seen it.

If you look up some threads for mark twain you will find some that link to Japanese websites that sell a whiskey called Mark Twain Bourbon. It is 12 yrs old 100proof, $36, has that Evan Williams bottle look and distinct Heaven Hill label and is...foolishly only sold in Japan

In the states (perhaps particularly in Missouri?) a bourbon is sold from Heaven Hill called Mark Twain bourbon. It is only 80 proof and is only $10. Perhaps someone could clarify but I don't think that with the price point and reduction in proof the one sold here in America is simply the japanese version cut to 80proof...more likely it is, like Cabin Still and Henry McKenna a lower proof bourbon that is definitely worth $10 but there are better bourbon Heaven Hill makes.

Gotta remember the market. Here (especially in MO ie Ozarks) most people just want something to spike their soft drink or shoot with a beer. Good stuff for $10/jug will sell much better than a 12 year old high proof that would probably cost $30 +/-. Remember they're competing with JB White, not KC. Terrible thing to say, but Americans as a whole have been conditioned since childhood to think that whiskey is a nasty adult drink consumed solely for the purpose of getting drunk. In Japan and Europe people drink for the taste and enjoyment of the beverage, like most folks on this forum. Next time in I'm in MO I'll look for it and try a bottle, however.

    So true Stu...so true...

And I think the worst KSBW from Heaven Hill is 1000xs better than JB White...Whew
So Mark Twain would be a real bargain

That is so true being new to bourbon it really is so disappointing when I found out that there were so many great bourbons out there that I can't get because they are shipped over seas. why can't they at least offer them here even at limited quantities so I could have a chance at them.

For anyone in KC that is interested, I bought it at the Gomer's in Lee's Summit on 291.
