Seems pricey when you can get full size barrels for $50.

I wouldn't think most people would need a full size barrel. The cost to fill it would be rather high.

Interesting idea. So how would you fill one? Just buy bottles and dump them into the barrel? Would a distillery sell 7 gallons straight from one of their barrels? Does the juice lose proof in the barrel?

You don't have to comletely fill it for it to work as an aging vessel, but the option would be there if you had the means to fill it.
