"...Churchill favored Cuban cigars above all others."

"...among Churchill's favorite brands were Romeo y Julieta and the now-defunct La Aroma de Cuba"

"The Romeo Y Julieta brand was introduced by Alvarez y Garcia in 1875 and was later sold to "Pepin" Fernandez Rodriguez in 1903. Making a large selection of personalized cigar bands and styles for famous people of the era; it is he, Rodriguez, who is credited with the introduction of "The Churchill" cigar which measured 7" long with a ring gauge of 47. This cigar can still be obtained today in Cuba from the Romeo Y Julieta factory; is sold in tubes with a red & gold band and has a superb aroma with vanilla, coffee, tropicalfruit, wood, cocoa, nuts, herbs and floral flavours."

Thumbs up Re: Famous Churchill Cigar

Interesting info. I knew he smoked large cigars, and 7" 47 gauge is certainly large. While that is called "a Churchill", now, I believe its standard name is "double corona". I've been away from cigars for a while, though.

He also had a penchant for very old French brandy (as in 100 years old or even older) and he often drank a whole bottle, each night.
